A simplified, emoji-style drawing of Zafu the lion.

Zafu the Lion

British furry artist and musician

My Fursona; Zafu the Lion

Drawn late into the night with Samsung Notes, and then carefully cut out and reassembled like stickers onto a Krita canvas. He is myself, but lion-ified! Chubby, fairly low-energy, kind of solitary. He's probably around 6' tall, and as you can see pretty chubby although not extremely so!
The lion shirt is accurate to real life too.. and the harem pants.. and the malas.. ok you get the picture
The image is also hosted over on my Mastodon page, though be aware that the page is often NSFW

A little bit more about me:

My name is Zafu, I'm a self taught British artist and musician within the Furry Fandom
~
I've been an artist for a long time, as a kid I used to draw the random things I saw, whatever those things would be, and I'd keep doing that until eventually I found the Furry Fandom and started gaining inspiration from that space. For a long time I was invisible, since I didn't really share my art anywhere, nowadays however I've been making an effort to share the things I make, since there's a chance that the light-hearted artwork I make might help make people smile
-
I started learning to play guitar sometime in Secondary School, playing an incredibly cheap acoustic guitar until eventually I could afford an electric one which was also pretty bad. Musically I'm pretty heavily inspired by Silent Hill's composer Akira Yamaoka, but prior to falling in love with that franchise I'd say Progressive and Heavy Metal music is what really made me curious to learn, some of that inspiration I think bleeds into the experimental music I end up making and releasing

The Furry Fandom was a more recent discovery, I fell into it by accident. I was drawn in by the artwork and the sheer creativity of the community as a whole, but what's kept me here is the sense of community and acceptance, the ability it's given me to express myself when I couldn't before.. it has helped me learn more about myself, and it's also helped me accept who I am too. In retrospect, joining the fandom was a great decision

Most recently I've started to adopt lessons I've learned from admittedly surface-level reading about Buddhism; I meditate daily, and try to be both conscientious and kind to both myself and other people. After years of depression and anxiety, I consider the lessons I've learned through my reading to be some of the most pivotal in helping me learn to push aside the negative thoughts I have
I am proud of how far I've come
